Project Description :
The Project is the expansion of water supply under the Seventh Water Supply Improvement Project which includes the construction of water transmission tunnel from existing Tub Chang valve chamber to Bangphli Pumping Station and the construction of Bangphli Pumping Station and related works to expand the water supply network to residential area at the west of Bangkok and in order to stop the use of artesian water.
The works under this project is divided into two parts as follows:
(1) Construction of water transmission tunnel Ø 2.80 meters, length of 17.50 kilometer from Tub Chang valve chamber to water storage tank at Bangphli Pumping Station including the installation of equipment for distribution of water in the by-pass at Wat Salud valve chamber.
(2) Construction of Bangphli Pumping Station and water reservoir with capacity of 59,000 cubic meters including procurement and installation of 3 sets of Pumps, capacity 125 m3 /min. and construction of Power Sub-station (7,500 KVA)
The scope of works undertaken by the company is divided into 2 phases as follows:
(1) Design and preparation of tender document for the construction of water transmission tunnel Ø 2.8 meter fromThab-chang water gate to Bangpli pumping station of about 15.5 km length (Contract No. G-MC-7C)
(2) Supervision of Construction works divided into 4 contract packages as follows:
- transmission tunnel (Contract No. G-MC-7C),
- Bangphli pumping station and water reservoir (Contract No. G-BP-7),
- procurement and installation of 3 sets of pumps with capacity of 125 m3 /min. (Contract No. E-BP-7), and
- power sub-station 7,500 KVA (Contract No. S-BP-7)
The tunnel consists of Primary Lining Ø 3.2 m. constructed by pre-cast reinforced concret segmental units having a thickness of 0.15 m. with typical trapezoidal shape of equal size, 6 units for each section; and Secondary Lining Ø 2.8 meter made from mild steel tube (MS) 1 mm. thick. The gap between the Primary Lining and the outside side of MS tube thickness of 0.185 meter is filled by concrete. Five sets of Earth Pressure Balance tunnel boring machines were used for the construction of tunnel and installation of primary lining.
