Project Feature: Feasibility Study and EIA of An on-track mass transit system project for six Bangkok Transit System Extension lines with project cost 88,700 MB
Technical Description of Project :
(1) Elevated Structure
The existing BTS lines are built on street median. The elevated structure is 9 m girder system on 2 m square column and 12 m above ground, using segmental box girder approximately 30-35 m. The column with pile cap set on four 1.5 m. diameter, 54 m. deep bored piles. As for the extension lines, the shape of structure might be slightly changed to facilitate the construction and reduce its impact on traffic.
(a) Foundation structure Because the street median have approximately 4 m. width and the traffic congest all the time, Consultants consider single pile with no pile cap which all the lessen construction time. In case of portal Frame, it may use pile cap with 2.4 m. width and 4.8 m. length.
(b) Column structure Consultants prefer the same type of the column as the existing column of BTS for the continuous with some minor change such as reduce the size of the column and considering the height and the area.
(c) Superstructure Consultants prefer Segmental Box Girder type for superstructure which may be pre-casted segment as it suitable for installing in traffic congested area and quality control of the product is available
(d) Other structure Noise barrier use the same pattern with BTS but may use different materials because GRC is difficult for maintenance.
(2) Station
Stations are the same as the existing for the consistency. Main structures are reinforcement concrete. Columns are single pile supporting Box Girder. There are 2 level, Concourse Level and Platform Level. Foundation of stations are Bored Pile or Barrette Pile.
Outstanding Concept for Environmental Study :
In order to study a method of the on-track Bangkok Transit System Extension development which it could have a significant impact on environment, Initial Environment Examination (IEE) has to be proceeded at the first place. IEE uses Environmental Checklist as a tool to address and indicate intensity of an environmental impact if the project has occurred. IEE to be studied which it will generate data to set a direction of the project. It will require coordinating and brain-storming to analyze this data to adjust detail and direction of the project in order to be most efficiency on financial and environmental management. Moreover, it is a foundation of EIA which all the relationship
Moreover, public relation and public participation has to be considered along with environmental, economic, and financial evaluation in this report to make a clear conclusion about this project.
