Phase 2 Feasibility study and environmental impact assessment (EIA)

Project Description :
1. The study of project development options showed that the Mae Taeng-Mae Ngat-Mae Kuang is an appropriate option comprising development of Mae Ngat-Mae Kuang and Mae Taeng-Mae Ngat diversion routes and Mae Faek-Mae Taeng pumping project.
2. The most appropriate diversion routes comprising Mae Taman Regulator, Mae Taeng-Mae Ngat and Mae Ngat- Mae Kuang diversion tunnels are selected to be studied.
3. Detailed design
3.1 Mae Ngat-Mae Kuang Diversion Tunnel
(1) Diversion tunnel, 4.2 m in diameter and 22.975 km in length
(2) Intake structure : Gated Tower
- Guard gate : bulkhead gate, 4.2 m wide and 4.2 m high
- Operating gate : fix wheel gate, 4.2 m wide and 4.2 m high
(3) Outlet structure : Gated Tower
- Guard gate : bulkhead gate, 4.2 m wide and 4.2 m high
- Operating gate : fix wheel gate, 4.2 m wide and 4.2 m high
- Energy dissipater (stilling basin type III), 7 m wide and 10 m long
3.2 Mae Taeng-Mae Ngat Diversion Route comprises:
(1) Mae Taman Diversion Dam and appurtenant structures
- Three flap regulating gates (12.50 x 3.50 m) and 10 fine sand sluice gates (0.80 x 1.00 m)
- Two coarse sand sluice gates (2.50 x 3.50 m) and a sand sluice tunnel with a diameter of 6 m and 160 m length
- Tunnel inlet structure (4.00 x 4.00 m)
(2) Diversion tunnels and appurtenant structures
- Mae Taeng-Mae Ngat Diversion Tunnel with a diameter of 4 m and 25.401 km length
- Sand trap tunnel, 14 m wide, 8 m high and 100 m long
- Siphon tunnel with a diameter of 3.85 m and 1,350 m length- Tunnel outlet structure (energy dissipater type I), 8 m wide and 12 m long
