Project Description : In 1990 the Department of Highways, by JICA assistance, proposed a motorway master plan for the whole Kingdom of Thailand. One of the first prioritized section is the Bangyai-Ban Pong-Paktho-Cha Am Motorway which will link BMR with the Western as well as Southern Regions of Thailand.
Feasibility studies of this motorway section was completed in 1995-1997. DOH has recently called for private consor- tium to bid for a 30 year BOT of the Bangyai-Ban Pong section. In lieu of recent economic crisis, DOH engaged the Consultant to review a Feasibility Study and Initial Environmental Examination for the Ban Pong-Cha Am section with an aim to attract private investment in the project.
