The Thailand Spatial Planning Project is aimed to identify Thailand’s strategic position and its development goals to compete for both in the sub-regional and global arenas. The plan will also set the direction of development in such aspects as the finance, transportation, trade and investment, and tourism of the country.
The study will provide the following benefits to Thailand:
1. The Plan will be the direction framework for integrated and sustainable development. It will also network and harmonize future development projects in accordance with the resources of each area.
2. The Plan will disseminate the economic opportunities and social services to all levels of the people. The fairness of public health, habitation, and education services will be realized throughout the country.
3. Strategic land-use framework will be available to ensure the balanced use of the ecology, natural resources, and culture.
4. The Plan will introduce better transportation and logistics systems to the country especially in the critical fossil fuel situation by using state-of-the-art communication technologies and city planning.
5. The Plan will reduce the un-equality of development in different parts of the country.
6. The Plan will prepare the country for the future competitive edge in the global arena.
The study will come up with the followings:
1. A Policies Plan – a 50 years’ framework of the country’s development (2006-2056)
2. A Strategic Plan which incorporates 5 years’ staging plan (2011), 10 years’ staging plan (2021), and 15 years’ staging plan (2026)
3. A five years’ immediate action plan which takes into consideration the area development and the sector, and systematically networks various development projects.
4. A Development Direction Framework for every level and area, together with the factors and conditions of success.
5. An Integrated Reference Framework networking the investment plans of both the public and private sectors.
6. Annual Development Monitoring and Evaluation Manual
7. A new innovation of city planning that can support the national development in both area-oriented and sector-oriented aspects.
